Local industrial leader STI Group held its10th annual Richard Purkey Memorial Golf Tournament for the benefit of the Food Bank on Oct. 24. It was a beautiful day for golf and a great day for those served by the Food Bank since the event generated $56,000 in proceeds. We are grateful for the great partnership with STI Group and for its partnership with so many corporate vendors that makes the success of this event possible In two years as STI Group's chosen beneficiary, the event has yielded funds sufficient for us to be able to provide close to 350,000 meals! more→
On Saturday, October 11, more than 30 employees of Entergy and about 20 young people and adult supervisors associated with 4-H conducted food drives in front of several food retailers throughout the Golden Triangle and beyond. Their commitment of time and energy inspired good public response and generated collection of more than 5,500 pounds of food and more than $4,400 for the benefit of the Food Bank. Share Your Christmas is an annual joint collaborative effort between the Southeast Texas Food Bank and KBMT to raise funds and collect food to sustain the Food Bank through the high demand holiday season. This year’s Share Your Christmas food drive ends December 4. Businesses, schools, individuals, families, and religious or civic groups can participate to help mobilize our region’s response to hunger in the holiday season.
