Successful Food Drives for Entergy and 4-H

On Saturday, October 11, more than 30 employees of Entergy and about 20 young people and adult supervisors associated with 4-H conducted food drives in front of several food retailers throughout the Golden Triangle and beyond.  Their commitment of time and energy inspired good public response and generated collection of more than 5,500 pounds of food and more than $4,400 for the benefit of the Food Bank.  Their efforts yielded food and funds sufficient to help provide about 17,500 meals in our community. Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive – May 10

The annual national Postal Service food drive called Stamp Out Hunger is set for Saturday, May 10.  The National Association of Letter Carriers sponsors the drive by inviting the public to place bags of non-perishable items next to their mailboxes for pickup during postal routes on that date. The items collected in our service territory come to the Southeast Texas Food Bank for distribution to hungry families within the eight counties we serve. Kroger Shares Its Souper Bowl of Caring

Kroger Stores shared proceeds from its Souper Bowl of Caring during a check presentation to the Southeast Texas Food Bank at the chain’s store on Phelan Boulevard in Beaumont.  A generous gift of $3,045.19 was made to help show that Kroger cares for the hungry in Southeast Texas.  The gift will help benefit children served through the Food Bank’s BackPack Program, which sends hungry children home from school for the weekend with packets of wholesome food to supplement their weekend diet. Thanks to Kroger for this...

The NBC program Biggest Loser is bringing one of its health initiatives to Beaumont on May 2-3, 2014 and the Southeast Texas Food Bank will be a charitable beneficiary of funds raised by the event.
