Second Annual Zumba Fitness Away Hunger Event Coming January 11!

Local Zumba Fitness instructor Shon Richard will be joined by other local and nationally known Zumba Fitness instructors for a workout day at Ford Park on Saturday, January 11 to help some get fit and to help some get food. Chevron Phillips has generously offered $10,000 in support of our Backpack Program to enable dozens of children at William B. Travis Elementary School in Port Arthur to receive packages of food to take home for weekends during 2014 to supplement their family’s food supply and insure those children have nutritious meal options in the coming year. The publicly promoted wrap up date of the annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive held in conjunction with supportive media partner KBMT arrived on Dec. 5, with broadcasts soliciting help for holiday time donations airing on that date. H-E-B Donates Generous Helpings of Cereal and Potatoes

On Dec. 6, a truckload of corn flake cereal and instant mashed potatoes came to the food bank courtesy of H-E-B. The large donation was part of H-E-B’s effort to insure that 16 food banks across Texas received supplies sufficient to feed hungry state residents 600,000 bowls of cereal and 2 million servings of mashed potatoes. The arrival of the truckload in time for Christmas time distribution is a great holiday gift to Southeast Texans.  Way to go...

On the brink of our national holiday of Thanksgiving, the Southeast Texas community rallied to give the Food Bank much to be thankful for. Several special checks were presented this week to help us advance our mission of fighting hunger.
