The Southeast Texas Food Bank wants to encourage our children to volunteer and learn the benefits of helping others. To help accomplish this goal we have added a special event that will run through the school year.
Every 2nd Saturday morning from 8:30 to 11:00 am there will be an project for children from 8 to 12 years old in the School Tools Department. Children along with a parent or adult will have some special tasks for them to work on which will help elementary schools that have 70% or more of their students on the free or reduced priced lunch program. If you and your child wish to participate in this special limited event please click on the green “Volunteer Info” button at the top of the page and complete the Volunteer Application, then from your home page you may complete another application for your child. Preregistration is required for all volunteers and all registration for this event will be done through the Volunteer Coordinator, Susan Detweiler, 409-839-8777.
Remember, all children in this program must be accompanied by a parent or an adult. Closed toed shoes are required and you may dress comfortably and reasonably. Remember this is a warehouse, you may get dirty. We also ask that volunteers refrain from using their cell phones while volunteering. If you need to take a call you may step into the lobby or outside and please no headphones. This is for everyone’s safety!
Please enter the SETX Food Bank by the large door/bay entrance and come into the break room to be signed in.
If you have any questions please contact the volunteer coordinator at 409-839-8777 ext. 116
