Q&A

SETXFB: How long have you been volunteering at The Southeast Texas Food Bank?

Alexa: It’s been about one year now.

SETXFB: Can you tell us a little bit about the departments and projects you’ve worked with in that time?

Alexa: I have volunteered time in the front office, School Tools, Agency Conference, the golf tournament and also have donated time to working on The Hunger Study.

SETXFB: Wow, that’s a lot of time donated to giving back to our community. What is your favorite volunteering memory at The Southeast Texas Food Bank?

Alexa: It would have to be working at the Annual Agency Conference. I enjoyed working to serve those who dedicate their time to serve the community.

SETXFB: Why is it important for you to volunteer at The Southeast Texas Food Bank?

Alexa: I have always wanted to volunteer, but didn’t feel I had the time. I was very busy with my family and work. When I had the opportunity to retire, I was given the time to give back.

SETXFB: Please tell us a little more about yourself.

Alexa: I have always lived in the Golden Triangle. I am married with two daughters, and am retired from education after 30 years.

SETXFB: What is your favorite kind of food?

Alexa: Cajun!

SETXFB: What advice would you give to those interested in volunteering?

Alexa: Volunteering is very rewarding. I would like to thank The Southeast Texas Food Bank for giving me the opportunity to volunteer.
