The outpouring of volunteerism offered at the Food Bank on Saturday, November 8 was a great testament to the giving spirit of Southeast Texans. More than 150 people pulled together to turn a day off into a day of giving. The Food Bank buzzed with activity, as volunteers pitched in sorting food and household products, assembling 1,000 boxes of food for distribution in rural communities, and helping staff serve dozens of teachers and hundreds of children through our School Tools school supply store.
Numerous groups were out to help, including youth groups and large corporate groups from ExxonMobil and Pepsi Cola. Thanks to all who committed a few hours to the ongoing effort to reduce hunger and poverty in Southeast Texas.
