Entergy Volunteerism Yields Successful Food Drive

On Saturday, October 19, 2013, about two dozen Entergy Texas employees volunteered time to staff seven different collection sites around its service territory to gather food and cash donations for the benefit of the Southeast Texas Food Bank.  In the morning, the volunteers faced threatening skies and chilly winds, but as the day progressed, the skies symbolically cleared and warmed, seeming to smile upon the heart warming gesture of the volunteers and those who responded to their requests for help.

By day’s end, Entergy collected nearly one ton of food and more than $1,600 in cash donations which it donated to the Food Bank to advance its mission of feeding the hungry.  Entergy certainly manifested its community service trademark “Power to Care”, and for that the Food Bank is grateful!

Did you know that a $10 donation can provide up to 30 meals for desperate people in your community? By making a donation, you are helping to ensure that hungry children in Southeast Texas are adequately nourished, that none of our senior citizens are forced to chose between medicine and food, and that every family facing a crisis can at least have the assurance of food on the table.

Your gift goes a long, long way!
