Hurricane Harvey – A Year Later

A year removed from the powerful impact of Hurricane Harvey on Southeast Texas, we look back and marvel at how lives have changed and yet how lives still move forward because of our region’s resilient spirit.  We also take this solemn anniversary as an occasion to celebrate the generosity of all who have helped make the first steps of our region’s recovery possible, especially the thousands of people from outside our region who have been and who still are invested in our well being.

With the distribution of enough food to provide more than 7 million meals since Harvey hit, we have tried to be among those at the forefront of preserving our community’s well being by trying to insure food scarcity is not an additional worry for those rebuilding.

Thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors since Hurricane Harvey hit, we have strong resources in place to be able to help, but unfortunately, for many who are focused more on rebuilding a home and a livelihood than on filling a plate, our engagement with special food distributions continues to be a vital one in making our community whole.

As we recall the impact of Harvey and the challenges it has created, we invite you to keep those who have been through so many trials in the past year in your hearts and to keep the Southeast Texas Food Bank strong in our response. Please consider making an online donation today while visiting our website to honor the Southeast Texas spirit that will ultimately move our community past Hurricane Harvey into a brighter future.

The impact of Hurricane Harvey was enormous, but the past year has convinced us the supportive love within the hearts of Southeast Texans and others from around our nation is even bigger!  Thank you for what you do to strengthen that conviction!

Did you know that a $10 donation can provide up to 30 meals for desperate people in your community? By making a donation, you are helping to ensure that hungry children in Southeast Texas are adequately nourished, that none of our senior citizens are forced to chose between medicine and food, and that every family facing a crisis can at least have the assurance of food on the table.

Your gift goes a long, long way!
