Local Souper Bowl of Caring Delivers Nearly $25,000 for Hunger Relief

Donations from HEB and Kroger were recently received to give us funds raised by their Souper Bowl of Caring invitation to customers to donate to the fight against hunger.

This annual project takes place in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl and is a major national campaign to help hunger fighting organizations like ours.

We appreciate Kroger’s recent delivery of its symbolic check to the Food Bank and the $20,000 donation made by HEB to yield a total of nearly $25,000 to support our mission.

Special thanks to the loyal customers who helped those retailers generate such generous gifts!

The mission of the Texas WIC (Women, Infants & Children) program is to improve the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk.

Did you know that a $10 donation can help provide up to 40 meals for desperate people in your community? Rest assured, that every penny of your donation will be stretched to it’s maximum effect. By making a donation, you are helping to ensure that hungry children in Southeast Texas are adequately nourished, that none of our senior citizens are forced to chose between medicine and food, and that every family facing a crisis can at least have the assurance of food on the table.

Your gift goes a long, long way!
