STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE

Thursday May 9, 2013

Beaumont, TX-The Southeast Texas Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers will host a press conference Friday May 10 at 10:30am at the Post Office located at 5815 Walden Rd. Beaumont, TX 77707.

Representatives of the Southeast Texas Food Bank, the National Association of Letter Carriers and local postal workers will be in attendance.

Local letter carriers will begin delivering paper grocery sacks with the food drive logo on them the week of May 7th. Postal customers in Southeast Texas can use the bags to donate non-perishable food items and place the bags at their mail receptacle for pickup by their letter carrier on Saturday, May 11th. All donations in the area will benefit The Southeast Texas Food Bank.

The Stamp Out Hunger food drive, held on the second Saturday in May, has become the nation’s largest single-day food drive. Over the last nine years, the food drive has collected over 70 million pounds of food nationwide, and has collected over one billion pounds of food since its inception in 1993.
