The 24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive (https://www.nalc.org/community-service/food-drive) will be conducted throughout Southeast Texas by the National Association of Letter Carriers on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Residents of the region can support the drive simply by leaving a bag or box of non-perishable grocery items such as canned meats, fruits or vegetables, as well as boxed cereals, pasta and snack foods by their mail box for pickup by their letter carrier on May 14.
Donated items collected by the letter carriers are given to the Southeast Texas Food Bank for the benefit of hungry families within the eight counties served by the Food Bank. Within the Food Bank’s service territory, approximately 1 in 4 people are deemed to be food insecure, meaning they do not have consistent access to wholesome, nutritious food.
This annual food drive is the largest single food drive of the year for the benefit of the Food Bank outside of the holiday season.
Special thanks to NALC for its annual drive and to PODS of Southeast Texas for generously sponsoring collection bags this year. Above all, thanks to you, Southeast Texans, for all your constant support!
