On Saturday, October 11, more than 30 employees of Entergy and about 20 young people and adult supervisors associated with 4-H conducted food drives in front of several food retailers throughout the Golden Triangle and beyond. Their commitment of time and energy inspired good public response and generated collection of more than 5,500 pounds of food and more than $4,400 for the benefit of the Food Bank. Their efforts yielded food and funds sufficient to help provide about 17,500 meals in our community.
Entergy’s Volunteer Council organized its drive, gathering school supplies as well as food, in front of eight different retailers scattered throughout its corporate service footprint in Southeast Texas. The 4-H Club conducted its drive in front of stores in Beaumont and Port Neches to fulfill its 4-H One Day project which commits club members to a day of public service.
Thanks to these two wonderful organizations for their good spirit and great example!
