Valero Benefit for Children Helps Backpack Program in Port Arthur

The annual Valero Texas Open golf tournament for the benefit of children’s charities generated close to $9 million to help charities throughout Valero’s service footprint. We are happy to be the recipient of $10,000 of that corporate charitable giving. Valero’s recent $10,000 gift to us will help fund the Backpack Program at Booker T. Washington School in Port Arthur.

The Backpack Program sends nutritious food home with children at-risk of weekend hunger to help their families supplement their weekend diet. This generous support from Valero will help provide weekend food for 50 – 60 students for an entire school year.

Thanks to Valero and the community partners who helped it raise these funds for providing this great support to Booker T. Washington School students!

The mission of the Texas WIC (Women, Infants & Children) program is to improve the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk.

Did you know that a $10 donation can help provide up to 40 meals for desperate people in your community? Rest assured, that every penny of your donation will be stretched to it’s maximum effect. By making a donation, you are helping to ensure that hungry children in Southeast Texas are adequately nourished, that none of our senior citizens are forced to chose between medicine and food, and that every family facing a crisis can at least have the assurance of food on the table.

Your gift goes a long, long way!
