We know our volunteers do great things to advance our mission, but it was truly edifying to see the Office of the President of the United States and the Points of Light Foundation recognize some of our volunteers in a special way.
On September 9, Shannon Beathard was recognized as the daily Points of Light honoree, held up nationally as an example of extraordinary volunteerism and community engagement. We congratulate Shannon for receiving this wonderful distinction and invite you to read the brief article about Shannon and why she was recognized.

The following day, we recognized Shannon as a gold medal winner. This time the award came from the President, as Shannon was one of 15 individuals and seven organizations honored to receive Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, another form of national recognition.
We are so proud of the great spirit of these volunteers! What great examples during Hunger Action Month!
